Ontario Tech Student Union

The Ontario Tech Student Union (OTSU) is a not-for-profit organization that represents students at Ontario Tech University. The OTSU provides students with services and amenities that support physical and mental wellbeing, provide collaborative spaces to pursue passions, nourish development, and improve student life through advocacy and leadership. As the graphic designer at the OTSU I played a key role for developing and expanding the brand, and creating engaging promotional material to engage students.

OTSU Website

In this project, I took on the challenge of redesigning the OTSU website to create a more engaging and user-friendly experience.
From initial research to final execution, I immersed myself in understanding user needs and identifying opportunities for improvement. To bring the vision to life I learned Figma, mastering its features to effectively plan and prototype the site. I worked closely with the developer to ensure the balance of good design and practicality. The result was a modern, intuitive interface that elevated the digital presence of the organization and eased the experience for students.

Glo Week

For the 2024 student orientation, the OTSU refreshed the traditional "O-Week" materials with a captivating glow theme. This glow aesthetic was carried across all promotional assets. The outcome was one of the most successful orientations in the organization’s history, and resulted in enthusiastic feedback.

The Period Project

The Period Project is an initiative that was created to address period poverty across campus. The OTSU installed dispensers across campus, and provides students with take-home period kits. In 2023, I took the lead in creating a monthly campaign to spotlight diverse topics related to the project, keeping students engaged, informed, and inspired. The campaign aimed to educate, destigmatize, and normalize conversations about periods and period products. For each theme, I designed posters, campus-wide signage, and social media graphics. The response from students was overwhelmingly positive, solidifying the Period Project as one of the organization’s most valued services.

Legacy Builders –
Digital Black Magazine

To celebrate Black History Month, I designed a digital magazine dedicated to honoring Black excellence and culture within the campus community. This project was a comprehensive creative endeavor—I organized and directed
a photoshoot, personally capturing all photographs of participating students. I edited the images and designed the magazine, carefully crafting every detail from start to finish. The result was a vibrant and impactful publication
that celebrated diversity, fostered pride, and highlighted the stories of Black students in a meaningful way.

Events and Initiatives

Each year, the OTSU hosts a variety of events and initiatives through a collaborative effort of the entire organization. As part of the promotional strategy, I am tasked with creating different cohesive visuals for every event and initiative, which usually consists of Instagram graphics, complemented by posters and digital signage displayed throughout campus. Occasionally, this extends to creating branded promotional items, such as stickers or other items.
